1) The server (Black) plays the ball in to Red. As soon as the ball is kicked, Yellow moves in to defend. The Blue receiver makes himself available for a pass.

2) Red tries to keep possession for 30 seconds by shielding and dribbling the ball or can pass to Blue.

3) Yellow forces Red out wide and reduces Red's space. He then tackles and puts the ball out of play.

- 1 server, 1 defender, 1 attacker 1 receiver
- Small designated area (up to coach).

- Vary approach angles and original starting positions and add goals
- Once one attacker has been thwarted, another sets off to make the defender work hard
- Add and vary ratios of attackers/defenders.

- The defender must close down the attacker as quickly as possible and force the attacker into the corners. Defending techniques such as approach, pressing and tackling should all be carefully observed.
- If the attacker manages to pass the ball to the receiver or keeps possession for 30 seconds, he gains a point. If he loses possession or passes the ball back to the server, the defender wins a point.
- The attacker should aim to keep possession by good use of the body as a shield, Blue must work hard to make himself available for the pass.
