This practice simply involves a group of players, positioned in a circle.
There is one defending player in the middle of the group who aims to win
the ball off the others.
The
circle of players passes the ball between themselves and tries to maintain
possession for as long as possible. If the defender wins the ball, then
he becomes part of the circle and the player who lost possession becomes
the defender. If the player does not win possession after 3 minutes then
he should be changed. LEFT-CLICK image to start animation & REMOVE MOUSE CURSOR from image to return to original image. For an explanation of the various symbols, CLICK HERE. |

| Variations: | |
| -
Increase number of players in the circle and defenders in middle. - Make playing area larger to increase the demands placed on the defender or reduce to make it harder for the players to pass and maintain possession. - Reduce the number of touches players are allowed to 1 so it becomes a 1 touch game. - Try with two balls for fun. |
|
| Tips: | |
| -
Defenders should work hard to gain possession. This is a good exercise for
player agility/changing direction and for trying to read and guess player
actions. - Players must aim to pass the ball quickly, accurately and keep the game flowing. |
