COACHING SESSION: COMBINATION PLAY AROUND THE PENALTY AREA 2
 

1) The ball is played forward into blue who lays it off. The two central-midfielders attack the goal.

2) The ball is then played into the deep right-wing area for the midfielder who aims to get behind the defence. His run is helped by the other forward who moves away to the left-wing to create space in the centre.

3) He crosses the ball to the back post.

4/ The forward plays the ball back into the centre.

5/ The remaining midfielder comes from deep & scores.

Organisation:
- Half football field + normal size goal.
- Group of players + goalkeeper.
 
Variations:

- Vary passes into different players and positions to provide different movement.
- Add defenders.
- Restrict to one or two-touch play.

Tips:
- Concentrate on the quality of the passing and timing of the movements.
- Passing and movement must be played at high speed.
- Encourage all players to get forward and make sure the shot is followed in.
